For 15 years I was paid to mainly find fault with the media, while on occasion celebrating well-crafted reporting, excellent think pieces, and the advent of independent journalism. A recent opinion piece that is worth celebrating is Prof. Graeme MacQueen’s op-ed in the Hamilton Spectator published on October 21st.

In the article (reproduced in its entirety below), MacQueen raises a series of questions rarely posed in the media concerning the Parliament Hill shootings in Ottawa in October 2014. What is truly impressive is not just the considerable depth of research that went into compiling the questions (more…)

B’nai Brith smear campaign against Anthony Hall reflects worsening threat to academic freedom

October 12, 2016

By Craig McKee

Over his long and impressive academic career, Professor Anthony Hall has helped us all better understand how crises can be manufactured to manipulate public perception of narratives that serve the interests of established power.

Now, he is the victim of one of those contrived crises.

In the latest of a growing list of glaring assaults on academic freedom, Hall has been suspended without pay from his tenured teaching position at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada where he has taught for 26 years. As the result of an obviously faked and planted Facebook post, he has become the focus of a (more…)

War on terror or war on democracy? The physical intimidation of legislatures

Powell anthrax

This is the text of a talk given by Graeme MacQueen at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, on Nov. 18, 2015. The text was edited by MacQueen for publication in Truth and Shadows. In addition to being a retired professor of Religious Studies and founder of McMaster’s Peace Studies program, MacQueen is the author of The 2001 Anthrax Deception: The Case For a Domestic Conspiracy.

Good evening. I have two sets of introductory comments.

First, my aim tonight is not to prove each of my assertions with a wealth of evidence but to survey four cases briefly in order to reveal a pattern. If you feel I may be on to something it will be up to you to look at these cases in more detail.

Secondly, as a Canadian addressing other Canadians, I want to note that I am aware of the taboos this talk is violating. I will be making claims, and pointing out patterns, that are unwelcome in mainstream society today in Canada. The taboos are held in place with heavy silence and with ridicule, and they are, in my opinion, crucial to the maintenance of the War on Terror.

The taboos are strong in the media, the universities, and in all sectors of government. Since my theme today has to do with legislatures, and since we have just experienced a federal (more…)

Whistle blower reveals secret U.S. program to recruit, train, and provide visas to ‘terrorists’

IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW how sausages are made, don’t start reading Visas for Al Qaeda: CIA Handouts That Rocked the World by Michael Springmann. The sausages in this case: the string of too-easily-swallowed accounts of bloody events in the “global war on terror,” served up daily with relish by the mainstream media. In reality these sausages are filled with tainted meat that’s making everyone sick.

Springmann is a brave whistle blower living in Washington, D.C. He’s written an accessible book, safe to digest, highlighting details of the corruption of the American Empire (and its accomplices, including Canada) as he experienced them from the inside during his years with the U.S. State Department.

While he served as a visa officer in the U.S. consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for instance, he was obliged under threat of dismissal to issue (more…)

Instant Karma: network that called truthers ‘hate mongers’ goes bust

Sun News rise of extremism

Sun set: Coren and his pals loved to remind us how afraid we should be of Muslims.

By Craig McKee

Canada’s Sun News Network – often referred to as “Fox News North” – will not be calling 9/11 researchers delusional purveyors of hate speech anymore.

That is because the racist, Islamaphobic, fear-mongering network that loved to ridicule “conspiracy theorists” closed its doors for good earlier this month when it became clear that it would never become financially viable and that it would never be embraced by the Canadian public.

Quebecor Media, the media chain that owns the network, had hoped that Sun’s far-right perspective would find favor with the Conservative government of Stephen Harper. This, they (more…)

9/11 researcher exposes failure of 2001 false flag ‘Anthrax attacks’

By Barrie Zwicker (Special to Truth and Shadows)macqueen-cover-298x447

The “anthrax attacks” that followed on the heels of the “9/11 attacks” have receded into memory for most people, even including those of us who were extremely skeptical about alleged al-Qaeda biowarfare at the time.

Prof. Graeme MacQueen, in his latest book, The 2001 Anthrax Deception: The Case for a Domestic Conspiracy, [1] sheds light on why most of us have all but forgotten the sensational “anthrax attacks.” They’ve been dropped down the memory hole as a touchstone to justify the “war on terror” because the “anthrax attacks” fraud fell apart.

In his tight (just 214 pages) but definitive account, MacQueen proves beyond doubt that the “anthrax attacks” were a false flag operation. Those who need to be persuaded need look no further than this overdue book.

The “anthrax attacks” were intended as a powerful evil twin of the 9/11 terror fraud. Taken together these ops were to be a one-two punch that would launch the “war on terror,” while simultaneously justifying the illegal invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. The invasion of (more…)

Why Ferguson, Boston bombing, OKC, and 9/11 are part of the same plan for domestic control

Ferguson as war zone 7

By Craig McKee

The sight of police in camouflage uniforms with assault rifles, grenade launchers, and mine-resistant armored vehicles advancing on protesters in Ferguson, Missouri has shocked a lot of people.

But it shouldn’t have.

Those paying attention know that law enforcement across America has been undergoing a transformation over the past two decades with the process accelerating noticeably since 9/11. This is thanks to the Pentagon and its “1033 program” (section 1033 of the National Defense Authorization Act), which allows it to transfer surplus military equipment to law enforcement agencies across the country.

The result is police forces being turned into small armies, officers into soldiers, and citizens into potential enemy combatants. The emphasis is no longer on protecting and serving – it’s now about controlling and intimidating. Meanwhile, dozens of movies and (more…)

Israel is losing the war.

I don’t mean the one being fought with missiles, bombs and bullets in Gaza. (That’s not a war anyway – it’s a massacre with 1,800 Palestinians killed so far). I mean the propaganda war – the worldwide fight over public opinion.

Thanks to the Internet and social media, people around the world, especially younger people, are coming to understand better than ever what is being done to the Palestinian people in Israel and the occupied territories. This latest slaughter is causing people to seek out more information about the history of the region and the history of this conflict.

Salon.com’s David Palumbo-Liu put it this way: “Israel is in fact risking losing the narrative war altogether, as more and more of the global (more…)

Lie becomes truth: Palestinians blamed for being oppressed, killed, and robbed of their land

Gaza smoke

Orwellian.

That’s how I can best describe in a single word the perpetual propaganda war that accompanies the oppression and repeated slaughters of Palestinian civilians by Israel. The victims are painted as terrorists; the oppressors are painted as victims who are just defending themselves.

Yes, I get it: Hamas is firing homemade rockets into Israel. This practice has killed 28 Israeli civilians since 2001. But how many Palestinians have the Israeli armed forces killed over those 13 years? How about the past 13 days?

Each Israeli death is a tragedy for those killed and their families. And I feel for those who are traumatized by the rocket attacks – however unlikely it is that they’ll actually be hurt by them. But stress felt by Israelis over these rockets is hardly comparable to massacres unleashed on the Palestinians in Gaza three times in the past five years not to mention the theft of land and denial of basic rights they have endured for the (more…)

De Blasio lashes out: 9/11 truth getting noticed thanks to Building 7 ballot initiative

De Blasio calls ballot initiative "insensitive" and "inappropriate."

De Blasio calls ballot initiative “insensitive” and “inappropriate.”

By Craig McKee

New York Mayor Bill De Blasio has made it official: the effort to force the City of New York to investigate the destruction of Building 7 is having a significant effect on the profile of the 9/11 Truth Movement.

The mayor recently lashed out at the efforts to get a question on the ballot in the November municipal election that would, if it passes, impose a change to the city’s charter. The change would force the city’s Department of Buildings to investigate all high-rise collapses retroactive to Sept. 11, 2001. Exempted would be the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.

In an article in Crain’s New York Business, de Blasio said: “From what I’ve heard, it’s absolutely ridiculous. And it’s inappropriate, (more…)
