I have a love/hate relationship with secrets. I’m fascinated by things unknown and unknowable. At the same time, when something secret is doing great damage to people, I get angry. I am frustrated when people allow themselves to be manipulated to the point where they believe the most elaborate lies. And I love to shine a light on those who would prefer to remain in the shadows. I have been a journalist in Montreal for 23 years, and have covered news and entertainment. I have won eight provincial and national weekly newspaper awards.

Lies are how America justifies war

The U.S. has bombed, invaded, assassinated leaders, overthrown governments, and killed millions since WW2

If most of us knew the real motives for the use of American military force around the world, we would never put up with it. And that’s why they don’t tell us.

The U.S. has been at war for 224 out of 242 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, an astounding 93 per cent of the time. And since World War 2 in particular, every instance of American aggression – by (more…)

Why do we tolerate a ‘truther’ cabal that constantly props up almost all the 9/11 Pentagon official story?

England says it was the “long end” of the pole that penetrated his cab.

So much is false in the Pentagon story – why would some ‘truthers’ spend years describing what they think is true?

What would you think if a group of truth activists, known for other areas of 9/11 research, turned their attention to writing papers, making videos, giving talks, and doing interviews telling us all the ways they thought NIST’s analysis of the World Trade Center destruction was correct?

What if they almost never questioned NIST’s findings but instead did everything they could to undermine any challenges to NIST from members of the Truth Movement? What if they told us they did this to keep the movement from losing credibility, to keep us from looking like crazy conspiracy theorists with wild ideas about (more…)

The world ‘knows’ bin Laden did 9/11 — so why isn’t there any evidence?

The media continues to show no interest in the lack of evidence against bin Laden.

Saudi ‘monster’ pronounced guilty by government decree

“A lie told once is lie but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth.”—German propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels

He is arguably the most notorious person in the 21st century.

The world takes for granted that Osama bin Laden was the architect of the “terror attacks” of Sept. 11, 2001. But why was this man singled out for this horrific crime? How did we learn of his alleged guilt? And what is the evidence used to support his guilt?

These questions are critical because the allegation against bin Laden led, less than a month later (on Oct. 7, 2001), to the launching of the Global War on Terror with the invasion of (more…)

The American exceptionalism myth and the selling of U.S. domination

I believe in American exceptionalism with every fiber of my being. – Barack Obama, 2015.

America is a nation with a mission. Our aim is a democratic peace—a peace founded upon the dignity and rights of every man and woman on this earth. – George W. Bush, 2001

America remains the indispensable nation, and there are times when America and only America, can make a difference between war and peace, between freedom and oppression. – Bill Clinton, 1996

Americans are expected from birth to believe in the notion of U.S. superiority over other peoples in other nations. The daily school ritual of pledging allegiance to the flag and playing the national anthem at sporting events—whether the Super Bowl or a neighborhood swim meet—is a given. Americans are taught that they are intellectually, socially, economically, and morally superior to (more…)

10 irrefutable, devastating 9/11 facts

The U.S. has utterly failed to provide hard evidence to substantiate its version of events.

April 20, 2018

By Elias Davidsson and Craig McKee

Scholars who attempt to elucidate the crime perpetrated on 9/11 – who are commonly referred to as 9/11 truthers – are often criticized for relying on conjecture and speculation in support of their claims. Such criticism may at times be justified, though often made in bad faith. There is actually no need to resort to speculative arguments that the official account of 9/11 is a fraud since there are hard facts that support this conclusion. Here are 10 such undisputed facts:

1. U.S. authorities have failed to trace, arrest, try (prosecute), and punish anyone responsible for the crime against humanity committed on 9/11.

The mass murder committed on September 11, 2001 represents, under international law, a crime against humanity. (more…)

Broadcast council says yes to hate, Dawson’s disinfo about AE911Truth, Omar Khadr, and CIA in the movies

By Craig McKee

Since I began writing this blog in 2010, I’ve started dozens of articles that, for one reason or another, I never finished.

From time to time, I’ll get an idea and start writing it but then put it aside “just for the moment.” Perhaps I question whether I have enough substance for an entire piece. Sometimes I don’t push hard enough through any obstacles I’m encountering. Perfectionism can really slow things down. Or I’ll get distracted by something else – perhaps the sudden and unexpected appearance of a squirrel…

Some were false starts that deserved oblivion, and you won’t see anything of them here. Some are, I think, worth sharing, however (more…)

Betrayed by the CIA: the framing, kidnapping, and imprisoning of an agent who just wanted out

J. Michael Springmann reviews the new book Eyes on Havana: Memoir of an American Spy Betrayed by the CIA by Verne Lyon for Truth and Shadows. McFarland (February 6, 2018), 227 pages.

If you want the truth, don’t go to the CIA, read Verne Lyon’s book. It is a reality check. It demonstrates how the United States government really works and how the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA, the Agency) is a totally out of control organization, accountable to no one and no thing.

Verne, whom I’ve known personally for many years, had his first contact with the CIA as a college student at Iowa State University in 1965. As part of Operation CHAOS, a massive surveillance program, (more…)

Why ‘demolition deniers’ are obsessed with last year’s Plasco Building demolition in Tehran

AE911Truth urged authorities to consider whether explosives and incendiaries were used in the destruction of the Plasco Building.

January 30, 2018

By Ted Walter (Special to Truth and Shadows)

On January 19, 2018, the one-year anniversary of the Plasco Building collapse in Iran, the website Gizmodo published an article by structural engineer Alex Weinberg titled “Why 9/11 Truthers Are Obsessed with the Plasco High-Rise Fire in Tehran.”

The focus of Weinberg’s article was the response of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth (AE911Truth) — the organization I work for — to the destruction of Tehran’s first-ever, iconic high-rise. At around 8 a.m. that day, the upper floors caught fire and burned for a little over three hours before a series of explosions (more…)

Tragedy and awakening: 16 years after losing his mother on 9/11, Drew DePalma is ready to speak out

Jean DePalma with her two children, Jamie and Drew.

January 6, 2018

By Craig McKee

It is just one story of thousands from that day. But for Drew DePalma, it’s the one that forced him to grow up very quickly.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, the then-17-year-old lost his mother in the destruction of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. Jean C. DePalma was one of 295 employees of Marsh & McLennan Companies who were among those killed in the event that would be used to launch the so-called “War on Terror,” which continues to this day.

Now, shortly after his 34th birthday, the events of 9/11 may change Drew DePalma’s life again, but this time in a very different — and (more…)

Why David Chandler’s renewed attack on CIT reveals the failings of his own Pentagon ‘methodology’

While the wing of the Navy Annex where Hemphill watched the plane has been torn down, this image shows approximately where he was when he saw what he describes as the plane flying over the Annex and the Citgo gas station.

December 29, 2017

He claims CIT’s ‘entire process’ is invalidated because of one interview – and he gets that spectacularly wrong

“Okay, well that makes, you know, I mean I don’t know it just makes whatever you say, like any, I don’t know how to say it, I guess that makes it, I don’t even know what to say, like from what you’re saying it could easily have hit the light poles and smashed into the Pentagon from where you saw it.” –CIT opponent Jeff Hill, who  receives no criticism from Chandler, helping Albert Hemphill “clarify” what he saw on 9/11

By Craig McKee

Much of the supposed “division” about what happened at the Pentagon on 9/11 involves research carried out by Citizen Investigation Team – or, more to the point, attacks on that research.

Some say this is because the research itself is “controversial.” But, by and large, for more than a decade now, it is the attacks on CIT that generate the controversy. The attackers then decry this result as being responsible for splitting the 9/11 Truth Movement.

David Chandler’s latest unwarranted assault on CIT illustrates this scenario and process. The article, called “Why the CIT Analysis of the Pentagon Event on 9/11 Should Be Rejected (more…)
